Endurance Bar
This game does not have traditional health points but instead uses Endurance. It is a reflection of your characters stamina, willpower, and health in one.
Each player starts with 12 Endurance Slots open. They can choose to spend those slots on pushing their rolls to do more powerful maneuvers. Those spent slots can be recovered through rest.
When a character is hit with an Effect from an enemy or environment the slots will be taken and locked. These slots will not be recoverable through rest. They will need direct attention to reverse the Effect. It could be done quickly or take multiple sessions depending on the Effect.
What Happens when you hit 0?
You go unconscious but there are two possibilities that can happen when you do. A Moment of Reflect or Death Saving Throws.
Death Saving Throws
If at any point your endurance drops to 0 because of a Effect then you will enter death saving throws.
During this you will have three attempts or rounds if in combat to roll doubles using 2d6. An ally can spend their round helping you, which will grant you additional dice per ally helping.
You will not be able to use Momentum Dice for death saving throes. (see 4.4_Teamwork and Combat).
Failure to roll doubles will result in a character death. If your successful you will roll 1d6 to determine how many slots you regain. Regain as many slots as rolled, even if they are locked.
As players and GMs we don’t want character deaths, so read the next section to see how to avoid it
A Moment of Reflection
A Moment of Reflection happens if you hit 0 because you spent your last Endurance Slot.
Choosing to go unconscious after some final move will grant you the ability to attempt a level up and will keep your character alive. In other words if your about to go down, do it your way with something memorable.
You will be down for two turns. During your first turn you will attempt to level up your skills. The second round you will roll 1d6 and regain that number of slots, locked slots remain locked.
